The Maju Group successfully organised the inaugural Maju-Media Bowl 2006 on Saturday, 16 September 2006 at Bangsar Bowl, 4th floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 8.00am until 5.00pm.

In line with the efforts of the Corporate Affairs Department to build and strengthen the media relations programmes within the Maju Group, 250 media practitioners from major dailies including New Straits Times Group, BERNAMA, The Star, Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Berhad, RTM, TV3, Nanyang Siang Pau, Harian, Harian Metro, The Sun, and The Edge,  as well as55 representatives from Maju, participated in the tournament.

Our Group Executive Chairman, YBhg Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed handed over the prizes to the winners. RTM turned out as the overall champion. Other major winners included TV3, The Star and Utusan Melayu. Senior Management of the Media and The Maju Group also attended and supported the tournament by playing in the VVIP category.

We hope that this tournament will further enhance the Group’s media relations and foster goodwill with more media practitioners for the long term.

January 23, 2006 (Monday) - The former Prime Minister of Malaysia, YABhg Tun. Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad today officiated the opening of Maju Tower. The signing ceremony was held at 10.30 a.m. right after the arrival of YABhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad for the launch of ‘The Maju Talk Series’ where he gave an inaugural address entitled ‘The Global Political-Economic Scenario Beyond 2020, Its Ramifications and Implications with Special Reference to Malaysia’. The signing of the plaque which commensurate the official opening of Maju Tower was witnessed by the Group Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed and Board of Directors as well as staff of Maju Group.

The honour to launch the “Maju Talks” Series was given to the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, YABhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad – a leader and statesman who had captained and championed Malaysia for more than 21 years into what the country is today.

The Essence of Maju Talks:

‘Maju Talks’ is the brainchild of YBhg Tan Sri Abu Sahid Bin Mohamed, the Group Executive Chairman of Maju Group. It is a forum for the meeting of minds of captains and senior executives of public and private sectors on vital strategic and futuristic issues. Through the views, ideas, and thoughts that will be presented by experienced and eminent invited speakers as well as the dialogue that will ensue, the forum hopes to generate better awareness and insight as well as convergence of appreciation and understanding of the challenging and crucial issues that will confront us and demand our practical attention in the near or distant future. Also the forum hopes to contribute to the enrichment of knowledge and honing of wisdom as we strive to generate knowledge workers with healthy mindsets. It  hopes that the issues that will be articulated or raised at the forum would also become an inspiration as well as a catalyst in the exploration and formulation of pertinent questions as we search for pragmatic solutions and management of a better and harmonious tomorrow.

Number of guests:

400 guests comprising key people from the public and private sectors, financial institutions and representatives from foreign Missions in Kuala Lumpur attended the function. Also present were members of business councils and NGOs.

Synopsis of Tun's Address:

The address by YABhg. Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad was followed by a 45- minute Question and Answer Session and a lunch that was held at Maju Palace Restaurant.
